Theme Park Kang Won
The gigantic Adventure Palace theme park is located in central Korea and is now one attraction richer, thanks to innovative laser technology: The "Miracle World Box" casts its spell on thousands of visitors every night!

The Box: Magic during the day and at night

The Adventure Palace park in the Kangwon province is some 100 km2 in size and thus the largest theme park in South Korea and home to the "Miracle World Box" which has sides measuring 24 m and offers a range of entertainment media both inside and out. Directly opposite is the "Kangwon Land Hotel", a five star establishment. Along with the underground, multi-storey, entertainment floors and the first casino which is open to the Koreans, the "Miracle World Box" is one of the main attractions of the luxury theme park. During daylight hours it appears mirrored, but at night it is illuminated to reveal its interior. At night a globe can be seen, some 20 meters in diameter. The special lighting effects give the impression that the globe is rotating and displays the five continents of the world. Inside the globe is the "Dome Cinema". The "Dome Cinema" has a diameter of 18 meters and is used as the projection area. Video images from TV, DVD, or VHS sources are projected directly into the dome. These images fill almost two thirds of the space. As a result of the various depths of the room, a new laser video system is used to ensure that the images are not distorted. Outside the "Miracle World Box" is the largest fully-automatic screen (24 m x 24 m) in the world! Lighting effects, laser projections and synchronized choreographies ensure a unique and unforgettable experience.

The EMF technology: High performance projectors and laser systems

All of the technology used in the "Miracle World Box" was designed, developed and installed by Laserland/EMF. This type of multimedia combination of laser technology, video and graphics projections is a worldwide first. The enormous outdoor screen is fully automatic and is kept submerged under water during the day, and raised and lowered by an underground drum. High-performance projectors (24,000 ANSI lumen) are used to project top-quality images onto the screen. Two effects lasers (20 kW), a white-light laser system (20 Watt) with two vector projection units create a multitude of images and illustrations and "build" a virtual roof of rays between the "Miracle World Box" and the casino opposite it. The entire media and projection technology is stored in a special container which makes it weather-proof and safe. Access to the cinema is below ground and under the surface of the water. The "Dome Cinema" in the center of the globe has a diameter of 18 m and does not have a traditional screen. The images from TV, DVD, or video are projected three-dimensionally into the dome. This image fills almost two thirds of the space. As a result of the different depths in the room a laser video projection system is used which allows the required depth of focus. Added to this are four laser/vectors and effect lights (10 kW) which create the frame in which the images are shown. The entire globe is spectacularly lit by a 22 kW floodlighting system with changing colors. A Dolby Surround System provides three-dimensional sound for a truly unique experience.

The Laserland/EMF service: Everything from maintenance to training right down to projection

During the tendering process for the "Miracle World Box", Laserland/EMF had to compete against international competition from the USA, Australia and South Korea. The design and implementation was introduced using precise computer animation. A professional approach with the highest possible technical standards, safety guarantees, innovation and considerable ability to identify with the Asian way of doing things as well as the extensive range of services on offer were all reasons to choose the Bavarian company. That this "key project" was accepted without a single improvement, speaks for the German economy in general. Thanks to the exceedingly user-friendly control system with just one touch screen the operators are completely flexible when it comes to operation. The entire system monitors itself, constantly checks that it is running correctly and can be maintained entirely remotely. Laserland/EMF has direct online access to the entire system. This not only ensures operational safety, but also reduces the costs, since trouble-shooting the network ensures there is no unnecessary source of downtime. On request, Laserland/EMF have created background illuminations with soundtracks for certain themed evenings in the "Dome Cinema", which can be synchronized with lighting and laser effects. The frame-synchronized animations and the associated soundtrack are made in the company's own sound and video studios and delivered on DVD. On site, staff are made familiar with the details and further training is given to ensure that they are able to do the programming. The conception, planning and implementation of the "Miracle World Box" underlines the claim of Laserland/EMF to belong to the elite of this industry.
